Rice Warehouse Ensuring Quality


For nation with big population staple food provision saved in Warehouse is important. The situation of Global Warming and Climatic Change make unpredictable growing and causing harvest failure.  To avoid any dissatisfaction in the people of the big population on the primary need of the life as food. The public management, in this case the government, has to find solution on how to provide food for it citizens in time of normal and peace and in time of difficulty/riot/disturbed/bad-harvest by various of unstability. Rice production which has to be saved in warehouses has important tasks. Seasonal production of crops must be taken into consideration that the product is required for all the year long, as the rice which is needed by people at least twice a day they will eat. So the condition and how the rice is collected and then how they are preserved in ware house. So that the existance foofd provision in warehouses is of very important.  Some technique and consideration are written below for out aleartness.

. There are some important things to note before grain storage. Among them:

1 Water Content Materials
The quality of food is easily deteriorated in the present of water at higher than recommended. Water content of seeds after harvest should be lower between 9 to 14%. High water content will allow the growth of mold, so that the food will be smelly. If other factors (temperature and humidity warehouse) fixed, the lower the water content, grain shelf life will become longer.

2 Air temperature (temperature) in Space Storage
Quality affected greatly by the  temperature affecting the shelf life of a food. High temperatures will cause rapid grain damaged by condensation of water vapor in the storage room. Water vapor collected will encourage the growth of mold and decay. Low temperatures will extend the shelf life. It required air exchange, ie remove the hot air from the barn and replace it with cold air, such as the morning air. This is needed because the grain will also perform respiration that produce heat, so the temperature of the surrounding air increases
.
3 Air Humidity (Relative Humidity) in the Storage Space.
Condition of water vapor is high initiate the growth of mold. Therefore, it is necessary to decrease the air humidity in the storage room. Things that can be used to reduce the humidity by passing air is going to go into the storage room through an absorbent, such as silica gel. By using silica gel, the relative humidity of the air is dry, so the shelf life of grains will be longer. Based on points 2 and 3 it should be done every morning in the barn air exchange with the outside air is cooler, but the humidity has been derived using absorbent.

4. Pest Warehouse
Biotic status of micro and mezo organisms are encauraged by the food, it must be ensured that the warehouse is free from pests. All holes that allow pest entry into the warehouse should be closed so that no contamination takes place during storage.
The system which has been familiar used to store food is sack storage system (storage bag). This storage method is used by many developing countries, because it is still considered to be more favorable than bulk storage system (bulk storage). This is especially if the material is stored milled rice; Rice will not be easily damaged and become dirty by handling processes such as bulk storage systems. Conditian storage facilities as known plays an important role in maintaining the quality of stored foodstuffs.
