Toward the Asean Free Trade 

Asean Free Trade Zone is to make free competition. Vice Minister of Ministry of Agriculture proposed, in the future the focus of Ministry of Agriculture is not only the pursuit of agricultural production to generate the maximum volume in order to achieve self-sufficiency. On the other hand, quality products and quality should be more governmental attention.

"To be honest in the last five years, we only pursued but ignored quality production and good quality. After this period we should not be the same. It should be changed because the market demands more want a good product," said the vice minister. He said this after he showed Competitiveness of Agricultural Products.
This is also part of the winning the free competition in Asean Free trades and  market in 2015 that domestic agricultural products can compete with other countries. Even so, he said, does not mean self-sufficiency forgotten. Food security should remain a priority

The government has set 2014 to sustainable self-sufficiency in rice and corn. But it's all merely ideals. Ministry of Agricultureis finally revising food production up to 70.2 million tons of milled rice of 76 million tonnes.

And 2.7 million tons of soybeans from dry seeds amounted to 1 million tonnes. Corn unchanged at 20 million tons of dry shelled  to 19 million. This time, though benefited from the wet season to dry weather conditions and forecast El Nino did not happen. Ministry of Agriculture seeks to stimulate the production of food crops to reach the target.
