Natural Rubber Usage
Indonesia is the second largest natural rubber producer in the world after Thailand, where in 2012 Indonesia's natural rubber production reached 3.27 million tons and Thailand each hold ± 27% and ± 30% of the world's natural rubber. Currently Indonesian rubber products almost 100% in the form of semi-finished products upstream industries like:
1. rubber sit RSS (ribbed smoked sheet);
2. rubber crumb SIR (Standard Indonesian rubber);
3. sit-wind;
4. concentrated latex.
Natural Rubber Consumption
The results of the study showed a trend experts rubber that the world's natural rubber consumption prospects are very good future. According to the International Rubber Study Group (2012) world consumption of natural rubber continued to increase an average of 9% per year, due to the growing development of industrial raw materials, especially natural rubber tire industry in developed countries like the United States, Germany and Japan.
The increase in oil prices in the international market is very sharp, causing the demand for natural rubber rose rapidly, because the synthetic rubber raw materials derived from petroleum fractions prices also increased sharply. Coupled with the economic growth in the Asian region that gave rise to the state of natural rubber-based industries such as new South Korea, China and India.
Although the current number of production and consumption of natural rubber (43.7%) below the synthetic rubber (56.3%), but in fact natural rubber can not be replaced by synthetic rubber, remember to make the tires still require natural rubber. Based on several studies, the content of natural rubber in the tires can not be less than 35%, this means that it is impossible to produce without the natural rubber tires. At the moment nearly 70% of world production of natural rubber used to make tires, while the rest is used for other products.
The raw material of natural rubber is indispensable for the manufacture of downstream products because it can not be replaced by a 100% synthetic rubber which characteristics are many disadvantages compared to the characteristics of natural rubber. So also in the manufacture of vehicle tires still need the raw material of natural rubber with a mixture ratio of natural rubber and synthetic rubber tires by type as follows:
(1) motorcycle tire requires 45% natural rubber and 55% synthetic rubber;
(2) passenger car tires require 45% natural rubber and 55% synthetic rubber;
(3) truck tires require 50% natural rubber and 50% synthetic rubber;
(4) racing car tires require 35% natural rubber and 65% synthetic rubber, but after the FIA (International
Automobile Federation / international automobile federation) requires the use of natural rubber tires as standard in Formula 1 racing car, racing car tires currently more manufactured from 100% natural rubber;
(5) the vehicle off the road tire (giant / earthmover) requires 80% natural rubber and 20% synthetic rubber; and
(6) aircraft tires are made from 100% natural rubber.
We will continue tomorrow.
