Modern Organic Farming

People want to consume food of agriculture products which is safe and free of detrimental chemical utilized during the production process of the source of food. Ferilizers and pesticides is limited in used, or even is excluded. So the agricultural production is natural or using organic material. This farming is not so difficult to conduct, because it means just back ti nature. It is something easy and natural.

In recent years, modern organic farming is sporadically becoming the concerned of Indonesian agriculture officers and farmers of small-scale. Developing modern organic farming produces food that is safe for the health and environmentally friendly production systems. But in general the concept of modern organic farming is not widely known and still widely questioned. The emphasis is more to exclude the use of synthetic pesticides.

With the development of medical knowledge and technology, environment, microbiology, chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry and others, organic farming continues to develop and upgrade.
In modern organic farming systems is required quality standards and is enforced by importing countries with very strict. Often the organic agricultural products must be returned to the exporting countries including Indonesia as it is still found residual content of pesticides and other chemicals.

The number of products that claim to be organic agricultural products that are not certified casts doubt on the part of consumers. Certification of organic agricultural products can be divided into two criteria, namely:

A. Local certification for domestic market share. Agricultural activity is still tolerated the use of synthetic chemical fertilizers in a minimal amount or Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (LEISA), but has been severely limit the use of synthetic pesticides. Control of pests using biopesticides, tolerant varieties, and biological agents. Team to formulate a national certification has been established by the Ministry of Agriculture with the involvement of universities and other parties concerned.

2. International Certification for export shares and certain circles in the country,
such as the certification issued by SKAL or IFOAM. Some of the requirements that must be met, including future land conversion, storage of organic products, seeds, fertilizers and pesticides as well as the processing of the results must meet certain requirements as organic agricultural products

Some prospective commodities that can be developed with organic farming systems in Indonesia, among other crops, horticulture, plantation, spices and medicinal plants, as well as farms. Facing the era of free trade in 2010. Indonesia is expected to organic farming has been able to export their products to the international market.
