Rice and Corn as Daily Diet 

Not all plants production can be as a source of food. Rice (Paddy) and Corn (Maize)  Plants are belonging to Monocot classification mostly can be used as a source of food that produce food containing nutrition  suitable and beneficial for human consumption. Here are two monocot plants that produce food :

1. Rice
Rice or paddy is a monocot plant bearing grain called rice. Rice is consumed as staple food in almost all Asian countries because of its  abundant nutrient content of carbohydrates.  
Rice contains carbohydrates that are suitable consumed, especially early morning when the activity will start. It provides the main fuel and energy for metabolism in the human body. Approximately 80-85 percent starch content of rice is the main source of food reserves. Protein, minerals and vitamins are also present in rice.

2. Corn
Corn is also a monocot plants. It stalk and leaves hair  and is widely used as a major food source of the world's population, especially the people of South America and Central America.
While in Indonesia, only certain areas where people consume corn as a daily diet, ie the region of Madura and Nusa Tenggara.

Corn has a nutrient content similar to rice. A total of 80 percent carbohydrates in the form of starch. In 100 grams of corn contains as many as 355 calories, 73.7 grams carbohydrates, 9.2 grams protein, 3.9 grams fat, 510 SI vitamin A, vitamin B1 0.38 milligrams, 10 milligrams of calcium, 2.4 mg iron, phosphorus 256 milligrams and 12 grams of water. 

Indonesia is still defisit in (Rice and Corn) these food ource to supply for it population consumption. Every year Indonesia imports rice and corn from other rice and corn producing countries as Thailand, Vietnam and China.
