 Threat of Food Shortages

Coverage of the global food crisis dominated the news in a number of national and international media at the end of 2010. An issue that re-warmed after been sticking to the global public about two years ago. This time the trigger is no longer the threat of food shortages because of policy substitution of food commodities for biofuel purposes, but because the state of the global climate, especially rainfall is erratic. Both factors trigger source actually has the same problem, namely the problem of global warming.

We may read that one source of the problem (global warming) determiner two triggering factors to produce a major impact threat of global food supply. And this fact should be understood that the problem of global problem determiner may trigger a number of factors which will then affect the survival of mankind in the universe.

The issue of food scarcity is only one issue that is haunting the human race, but there will be a number of other issues that will arise to disrupt the dominance of humans towards other living beings on this planet.
The threat of scarcity of food supply is actually not a new threat to humans. As from Mathus issued his theory of accretion arithmetically (food production) and geometrically (population growth) in 1798 Mankind has been observed that the need to anticipate the imbalance between supply and demand for food. Only the difference deciding factor spawn Malthusian theory of scarcity of food supplies is a human. So humans need wisdom to manage it. And proved that humans are able to manage the threat is by doing a number of engineering that doubled world food production.

Malthus Theory temporarily barred. Threat of food shortages made aware of governments in several countries, especially the developed countries were able to break through the Malthusian theory of proper food production policies (including Indonesia and the intensification and extensification of agricultural programs in the late 1970s).

The success of the multiplication of food production in the last three decades can not be separated from the strong commitment of governments to increase food production in addition to the interest in food commodity markets. Food is a primary commodity relative to its supply will always be responded by the market (global). problem will arise when the primary commodity being used for the purpose of secondary and even tertiary as happened two years ago and triggered the threat of scarcity of food supplies.

Let's examine the threat of scarcity of food supplies at this time. Once again trigger food scarcity today is the problem of climate anomalies determiner failure of food production in a number of major producing countries.
