The Importance of Food Diversification

Dependence consumption on rice as  food is not favorable for food security, particularly in relation to aspects of the stability of food sufficiency.
The positive impact of the policy of diversification of food consumption, among others:

 a. Strengthening food security
The issue of food security is an important issue because of the efforts to reduce the role of rice and replace it with another type of food becomes important in order to ensure food security in the long term. These efforts can be done by introducing other foodstuffs,  and finding alternative for  rice with cheap in price and contains nutrients that are not much different from the rice.

b. Increasing the income of farmers
Farmers will produce a lot of commodities needed by consumers and which has a fairly reasonable price. They will no longer depend on paddy farming as a source of revenue, but may try other plants that have a higher economic value.In this, food diversification must be supported by people.

c. Save the State's foreign exchange
The success of diversification not only strengthen community food security but also benefit the country's foreign exchange savings means less ease the burden on state finances when this economic crisis.
